Wing Snob

Where there is bread, you can find me! In covid times, that means you’ll find me at my kitchen table with delivery. Ha! I’ve been meaning to try Wing Snob for a while and finally broke down in a moment of mental starvation, I ordered wings, fries and cornbread for lunch. Normally I made something I have around the house, like mac ‘n cheese, or a ham sandwich. Other days, I pig out! I ordered Wing Snob through Uber Eats, and they had a full on cornbread section available. With the option of a single serving (2 slices), or an entire tray with 20 slices. Of course I had to get some, and it sure as shit didn’t disappoint!

Presentation – 1 Crumb

The presentation score here is quite tricky.  I ordered delivery, so it’s not so much about the presentation, but about how well the item was packaged.  They simply wrapped the corn bread in plastic wrap and placed it in the bag.  This is probably the best way to keep the bread safe and intact.  For that reason, they’re getting a full crumb.  Not to mention the bread arrived a bit warm, which I was not expecting.  It may have been warmth from the other food in the bag, but either way my feelings were not hurt!

Bread Variety – 1 Crumb

I mean, I ordered cornbread, and I received corn bread. Again, nothing to complain about here. I wouldn’t expect corn bread to come with another type of bread unless this was a sampler of sorts. So another full crumb here.

Quality of Bread – 1 Crumb

This cornbread was one of the best I’ve ever had! I know this is only my second review of corn bread, so it’s hard to fathom how many different variations of cornbread I’ve had, but please take my word for it! I’ve eaten corn bread in Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee, and many places in between. This Wing Snob cornbread was top notch! It’s quite hard to make corn  bread moist, but if you can manage it the next challenge is not making things soggy.  The perfect balance of moist and rigid consistency is what you get with their cornbread. Next time I’m going to order 2 servings and save one for later. Top notch quality, and certainly deserving of a full crumb.

Quality and Quantity of Spread – .5 Crumbs

Sadly they did not put butter in the bag. I don’t really know that the cornbread needed a spread of sorts, but it should have come with butter, so I’m docking half a crumb for that.

Cost – 1 Crumb

It’s only $2 for the best cornbread yet! You certainly can’t beat that price! It’s two small slices of cornbread that make for a very generous portion! For $40 (On Uber Eats) you can get 20 slices, still a great deal.  I’m sure this cornbread could be saved for a few days at least, and used to accompany meals for the week and/or snacks throughout the day.

Overall – 4.5/5 Crumbs

Like I mentioned, a few times; this is the best cornbread I have had yet. It had the perfect balance of firm, moist and flavorful.  Wing Snob wings are big juicy, but nothing too special. Their hidden gem is indeed their cornbread, so go there and give it a try! You’ll thank me for it later. 🙂
