This place is a hidden gem for sure! There are so many nice restaurants in the Grandview area that this one can be overlooked. We went here by mistake, and it was such a good surprise. I went here with co-workers and a key client; we were supposed to go to a Cameron Mitchel restaurant but I made the worse mistake a sales person could make. I didn’t call to reserve a table?! At about 4:30p that day I realized what I had done and after frantically calling around to 4 other restaurants I found that no one could accomodate a table of 7 in an hour. Luckily my co-worker knew about Third & Hollywood and reserved us a last minute table! She was an absolute savior!
As we do with any work dinner, we order appetizers. Naturally I say the busciuts are a MUST!
Presentation – 1 Crumb
So we order the Iron Skillet of Cheddar Herb Biscuits. Just the name made my mouth water. When they arrived to the table the smell of butter, herbs and cheese hit you right away. I would have been disappointed had they been served in anything other than a skillet, obviously! This was pull apart bread, but also came with a spoon to help. You can see the butter and herbs in the bread and it was nice and hot. Couldn’t ask for anything more really. Full crumb here.
Bread Variety – 1 Crumb
The description said biscuits, and that was the only bread that was served. Would have been quite weird if they had more than 1 type there.
Quality of Bread – 1 Crumb
The quality! oh man, I would give this a double crumb if I could (technically I can, but why start now, ha)! The buiscuits were so juicy! Butter just pours off of them when you cut a piece off. The herbs incorporated inside the bread are so fresh, you can see how green they are in the image below. The taste is incredible! Butter, garlic, herbs, and the bread itself is so fluffy, like a cloud.
Quality and Quantity of Spread – 1 Crumb
This is tricky, although the biscuits didn’t come with anything on the side, their spread was already on the bread. In fact, this might be my new favorite way in which a spread should come. There was the PERFECT amount of butter covering all of the biscuits. When you grab a serving the butter runs down the sides of the remaining buiscuits and into the inside and bottom of them, making each piece more and more tasty. So, pro tip: don’t take the first piece.
Cost – 1 Crumb
Third & Hollywood is an upscale restaurant with entree items ranging from $18 to $48. Other appetizers range from $9 to $16, so I was pleaed that their Iron Skillet of Cheddar Herb Biscuits were only $9! Also, they offer these babies for FREE during their happy hour which is weekdays from 4p to 6:30p. They also have an option for 3 biscuits for just $5!? Although I’m not sure how you can stop at 3! If you stop in during brunch, you can order a single cheddar biscuit for $2. Again, one is not enough haha! Their normal serving gives you 7. These biscuits are the tastiest thing I ate that night and the lowest cost on the menu making me happy.
Overall – 5/5 Crumbs
Perfect score here! Doesn’t happen too often! Third & Hollywood is truly a hidden gem, and their Skillet of Cheddar Herb Biscuits are not to be missed. Whether you come in for brunch, lunch or dinner their cheddar biscuits are offered and for good reason. What are you doing on here, go book a reservation now! 🙂
